Beginning in 1974, and in each year since, in the month of September, Finnish-Americans and Finnish-Canadians have congregated for the Annual Finn Golf tournament and banquet held in the Portland, Oregon vicinity.
Finn Golf 2001, the 27th annual tournament, is slated, as is tradition, for the Friday after Labor Day in Kelso, Washington.
Finn Golf is more of a cultural event than a sporting contest. It is not so much winning at the competition, 'sisu' takes care of those that possess it, but rather the opportunity to be with those that share an inherited ancestry and aboriginal past.
