I'm struggling to learn the language on my own. And it isn't the easiest language to learn at all. Anyone could lend a helping hand? I'd appreciate it.

You sound as if you have some Finnish interest, or know a few, so that's about the best I can suggest. Use your friends. There is a Finnish community in NY city. Go to this forum and list all the messages (not just last 5 days) and contact some of the posters here by e mail.
