North American translators in Nordic languages are invited to a workshop/conference in Wisconsin: http://www.americantranslators.org/divisions/ND/ndpost.htm
You may have to be an ATA member(http://www.atanet.org/bin/view.pl/181.html), but check or e mail the person at that page.
There is no university translation major in these languages. The stress is in literature and linguistics. However, general translation concepts can be picked up in workshops and in practice.
People who have skills in a particular field and a native language skill can easily become part time translators.
