Helsingin Sanomat has an International Edition (http://www.helsinki-hs.net) available that covers daily major news in Finland.

Another source, if you have Real Audio, is this site: http://www.wrn.org/ondemand/finland.html

to listen to YLE Radio nesw from Finland. (Several language choices are available.)

The last time I read the English language news in Virtual Finland, they were all business, politics and "culture" meaning a rather snooty level of arts and music. There was very little relating to popular culture there.
A link I've often listed to the more interesting music is www.noside.com (http://www.noside.com) which leads, I think, to several sites in Finland.

Actual news related to technology has been somewhat weak in English as well.

Helsingin sanomat, still free for the moment, is running the story on Finns going across the border to visit prostitutes: http://www.helsinki-hs.net/thisweek/04012000.html

I think the international edition is always free...
