Whirlpool Corp. plans to invest $180 million this year to strengthen its manufacturing base in North America, the appliance giant said Tuesday.
About $100 million will go toward initiatives at the Benton Harbor-based company's U.S. facilities. The other $80 million will be invested in Mexican plants.
The company said plans call for an investment of up to $145 million over three years, subject to state and local incentive approvals.
