Sports stars are held in high esteem, even after scandals. except for Nykänen. The last one to get into trouble was Häkkinen.

Having run off from Mervi for two weeks, and on his way to Prague, he changed his mind:
Matti Nykänen muutti mielensä ja päätti rientää Mervi Tapola-Nykäsen syntymäpäivälle.

Matti Nykänen päätti maanantaina keskeyttää jo alkaneen Prahan-matkansa ennen aikojaan ja rientää myöhään viime yönä ex-vaimonsa Mervi Tapola-Nykäsen syntymäpäiville. Mervi Tapola-Nykänen täyttää tänään pyöreät 50 vuotta.

I think Matti and Mervi may be living some kind of life with a script designed for maximum press.
Matti Nykänen ja Mervi Tapola-Nykänen viettivät eilen Mervin 50-vuotissyntymäpäivien rääppiäisiä saunotellen ja nauttien kevään lämmöstä lähes kolmen viikon eron jälkeen. Pariskunta on jo aloittanut häiden suunnittelun.

- Haluamme viettää kunnon kesähäät, joita on suunniteltu huolellisesti. Häistä on nyt puhuttu vakavasti, kun oikeudenkäyntikin on ohi ja tilanteemme on rauhoittumassa, onnelliselta kuulostava Mervi kertoo.
Now they are planning another wedding. They must be eaiting for Matti's court cases to all go thru. I think they both got fines for assault.

I think they should, by a court order, be ordered to live on the opposite sides of the country to protect themselves (and the innocent news-readers) from their on-again-off-again [and so on and so forth] relationship! :nut:

I think they are missing a big opportunity for reality TV. One that no foreigner would be able to watch. It would be the test of a real Finn to sit through an hour of Matti and Mervia at home and in the ravintola.
