Miten tämä vaikuttaa elämääsi? Onko terroristeista uhkaa?

Miellä päin suurin ongelma on politiikan meno oikealle niin osavaltiossa kuin liittovaltiossa. Sen seurauksena Missourin kouluissa vaaditaan parempia tuloksia vähemmällä rahalla. Asumme esikaupungissa, jossa on vaalissa taas koulujen rakennusten kunnostaminen edessä. Se laitettiin kevätvaaleihiin, referendum juttuun, ettei jää presidenttien valinnan jalkoihin syksyllä.

Vaaleja on paljon...

In every four-year cycle there are about 1 million American elections, most of which involve marginal differences between conventional candidates. This year's South Carolina contest for the U.S. Senate is one that matters.
-- DeMint has developed an "index of dependency."
America is in, he says, "an eleventh-hour crisis" of democracy because it recently reached a point where a majority are "dependent on the federal government for their health care, education, income or retirement."
--DeMint's fear, that dependency produces "learned helplessness," echoes Tocqueville's warning about government keeping people "fixed irrevocably in childhood," rendering "the employment of free will less useful and more rare." It is, Tocqueville said, "difficult to conceive how men who have entirely renounced the habit of directing themselves could succeed at choosing well those who will lead them."
--His agenda continues a tradition of American governance that extends back to the 1913 law making mortgage interest payments tax deductible, thereby democratizing the accumulation of wealth through home ownership. And back beyond that to 1862, to the Homestead Act, which distributed the nation's primary wealth at the time -- land.
--If DeMint wins the June 8 primary........ DeMint has a House member's opinion of the Senate, which he says is "where ideas go to die." Not if he gets there.

Mielestäni kriisi on siinä kun on liikaa heiluriliikettä. Ei ole koskaan totuttu laatimaan kompromisseja. Sisäpolitiikan pitäisi olla kompromisseja, ulkopolitiikka taas saisi ollla enemmän muutaman ekspertin kuin pressan käsissä. Pressan rooli Suomessa on sopiva. Supervallan kai on eri tavalla toimittava, mutta kuitenkin, voisi siirtyä siihen suuntaan niin paljon kuin mahdollista.

"The new poll finds that if the presidential election were held today the Massachusetts senator would receive 44 percent and the president would receive 43 percent of the vote, a difference well within the survey’s three-percentage point margin of error. "

The skit showed Vice-President Dick Cheney, played by Darrell Hammond, suggesting Rice should "flash a boob" to distract the public from her testimony.

"Just one headlight, real quick," he said. "It does two things. You win over the liberals, plus, it's a distraction for the press. I guarantee that's going to be the headline, not the (Osama) bin Laden thing."

Jackson, as Rice, huffily refuses.

"I am not a prude, sir, but this hearing is not the forum for that kind of lewd conduct," she said. "There are other forums, like pay television or national sporting championships. That would be fine, but I am the national security adviser."

Cheney reluctantly agreed. "It was (Attorney General John) Ashcroft's idea," he said.

The scene shifted to the commission hearing. Rice, tongue-tied under questioning, opened her blouse and pretended to reveal her right breast -- the same one seen by millions of Super Bowl viewers during her halftime performance. This time, the breast was heavily blurred by the network.
